Two Imaginary Letters
[Since NMKG is
still new, our email and snail-mail boxes are still
wonderfully empty. Here are two emails that will
probably arrive soon:]
Just Another Anti-Bush Web Site!
Dear No More
Cheap Shots -- How can you say that your not
running an anti-Bush campaign when you use "No More
King George" as the title of your webzine? Why not be
honest and say that your bashing Bush. -- A Concerned
American
Editor's Reply: Dear Concerned, Ok, I will admit that one reason I picked the name is that it's an irreverent play on the first name of our current President. I hope this will help people remember where we are and encourage them to check back often. You may refuse to believe me, but I'm really not trying to bash Bush. The goal here is to provide a place for informed discussion of the issues and access to the actual source documents so people can make up their own minds.
The issue of appropriate Presidential power is really bipartisan. If Bush leaves behind a "Soverign Presidency," a problem will exist, no matter which party is elected next. If you like Bush, do you really want a Democrat (maybe even a liberal Democrat) to have the power Bush is now claiming for the White House? -- MDH
What's the Big Deal?
Hey, NMKG!
The push & pull between Congress and the President
is as old as the Republic. Why is everyone getting so
upset now? Isn't this just politics as usual? ---
Disgusted in Denver
Editor's Reply: Dear Disgusted, -- Sure, there will always be people who take the issue of the day and try to score political points. But to me, what's interesting about this issue is that people with very different political views are equally concerned. Bush's claims of Executive power really do seem to push the envelope. -- MDH
